Andorra Telecom is the only network provider in this small country. The state owned company was formerly called Servei de Telecomunicacions d'Andorra (STA) has 2G on 900 and 1800 Mhz and 3G/UMTS on 2100 Mhz like most of Europe. 4G/LTE has not started yet.
It might not be so important for visitors to buy a local SIM card because Spanish antennas cover a major part of the country. Down in the valley, 3G reception from Spain is not good, so if you stay for longer, you might think of buying a local SIM card especially as Andorra is not part of the EU. So EU roaming caps don't apply and roaming charges for Andorra can be very high.
Therefore, like always in border areas covered by different networks, be sure to switch off roaming or make a manual network selection.
Their prepaid product is called Mobiland, their data SIM Mobiland Clic! You can purchase a SIM card from the Andorra Telecom office at Av. Merixell 112 in Andorra la Vella or its distributors. A SIM card costs 60 EUR with the same credit valid for 7 months. When credit is used up, card stays valid for another 5 months incoming only.
Top ups can be done with vouchers for 15, 30 or 60 EUR valid for 2, 5 or 7 months respectively available in stores..
