Order Estonia Prepaid SIM Now

 

General Information

The country of Estonia has 3 network providers:

  • EMT (owned by the Swedish TeliaSonera Group)
  • Elisa (owned by Finnish Elisa Oyj)
  • Tele2 (owned by Swedish Tele2 Group)

2G is on 900 and 1800 Mhz, 3G on 900 and 2100 Mhz with good coverage, 4G/LTE has started on 1800 and 2600 Mhz on all 3 networks.

Prepaid SIM cards called "Kõnekaart" are available at newsstands, kiosks, supermarkets and other outlets. No ID or registration is necessary. The country offers very low prices for data compared to the rest of Europe.

Elisa (Zen)

Elisa has a good coverage at very low rates. Nevertheless lines are throttled and no 4G for prepaid: Elisa Coverage Checker

 

Start up 

The prepaid card is called "Elisa Kõnekaart". Startup kit is 1,00 € and includes the same amount of credit. Default PIN is 1234. The SIM is available at many outlets and Elisa stores. Top-ups can be made at Maxima, Post offices, R-kiosk, Statoil, Prisma and others.

 

Data rates

Max. speed for internet is 1 Mbit/s download and 0.3 Mbits/s upload

Default rate is 0.05 EUR for 20 KB with a daily cap of 1 EUR "unlimited". Following passes are available

  • 24 hour day pass is 1 EUR. activation: NET1
  • 7 days pass 3.50 EUR, activation: NET7
  • 30 days pass 5 EUR, activation: NET30

For activation, text code to 15300. "Unlimted" means all packs can be used for up to 50 GB (Fair use policy)

 

Zen

Zen is the youth line of Elisa. The prepaid Kõnekaart is available for 3.00 EUR with the same credit at the places mentioned above. It has the same data rates, packages and other specifics as the Elisa product and offers some more combined packages.

  • Validity is 6+1 months (charge at least 3 € during 7 month period).

EMT (Super, Simpel, POP, Internet Pay As You Go)

EMT by the Swedish TeliaSonera group is market leader in Estonia. Their 4G network covers most of the country already and is open for prepaid, but their rates are higher than those of Elisa.

 

Start-up

Their prepaid kit is available at EMT stores and lot of outlets. Recharges can be made attheseplaces nationwide. Their brands for prepaid kõnekaarts are called Super, Simpel and POP.

 

Super

Starter kit of Super is 1.00 EUR. Internet is the same packages as Simpel and POP (see below) capped at 5 Mbps. Furthermore they have this promtional smart pack:

  • For 8 EUR, you get 8 GB data in 4G per month plus domestic calls and texts

 

Simpel and POP

Starter kit of Simpel and POP lines costs 2.95€, includes 2.95€ credit. Default rate is 1 EUR up to 200 MB per day at 1.5 Mbps and 384 kbps. Beyond 200 MB per day speed will be reduced to 64/32 kbps.

 

Following packets can be booked:

  • 250 MB for 30 days - 1 € (1.5 Mbps) - send SMS INTERNET250 to 9123 or dial *147*250# and confirm
  • 1 GB for 30 days - 2 € (1.5 Mbps) - send SMS INTERNET1 to 9123 or dial *147*1# and confirm
  • 3 GB for 30 days - 3.99 € (1.5 Mbps) - send SMS INTERNET3 to 9123 or dial *147*3# and confirm
Internet Pay As You Go

EMT Internet Pay As You Go is their prepaid contract-free data service, intended for tablets and laptops. There is no provision for voice or SMS. SIM card is sold for 3.90 € with 3 € credit or with a USB dongle for 29 € with 10 € credit mainly in their own stores. Prices are as follows:

  • 1 day, 1 GB, 1 € (1.5 Mbps)
  • 7 days, 5 GB, 4 € (1.5 Mbps)
  • 30 days, 15 GB, 10 € (1.5 Mbps)
  • 30 days, 15 GB, 12 € (4 Mbps)

Tele2 (Smart)

The prepaid product of Tele2 in Estonia is marketed under the name of "Smart".

 

Start-up

Their prepaid SIM can be found at Tele2 stores, Post offices, R-Kiosk, Statoil, Maxima and other outlets, where reloads are offered too. It's sold for 2.85 EUR, sometimes reduced to 0.95 EUR with no credit.

 

Data rates

The default rate for data is 0.25 per 250 KB per day with a maximum of 1 EUR for 1 MB per day. Following packages can be booked:

  • 24 hours, 250 MB, 0.49 EUR, activation: text DATA1 to 95002
  • 7 days, 1 GB, 1.95 EUR, activation: text DATAN to 95002
  • 30 days, 3 GB, 3.95, activation: text DATAK to 95002

Speed will be reduced when limit is reached from 21.6 Mbps to 64 kbps. A new pack can be booked ahead of time.

 

Internetkaart

This data SIM called "Kuumaksuta internetikaart" is 2.90 EUR start up price with 10 GB vaild for a week preloaded. It can be topped up with:

  • 1 day, 1 GB, 0.70 EUR, activation: DATAP
  • 10 days, 10 GB, 4 EUR, activation: DATA10
  • 30 days, 30 GB, 9.90 EUR, activation: DATA30
